Hi, and welcome to Bandsintown’s Cookie Policy.

The objective of this Policy is to provide you, as a user of Bandsintown’s services, with clear and accessible information about the cookies that we use, the role they play in helping us provide the best possible experience to you and the choices you have when it comes to your cookie settings.

1.    What Are Cookies?

A cookie is a small data file that is placed on the hard drive of your computer, tablet, smartphone or other device when you visit a website. They are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device.

When we refer to cookies, this includes other similar technologies such as tracking pixels  (transparent graphic images placed on a web page or in an email, which indicate that a page or email has been viewed), Google Tag Manager, or web storage used in desktop software or mobile devices.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improving your user experience. They can also help to ensure that ads you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.

Some cookies are functional and enable additional functionality when a user accesses the website (e.g. allows users to save user preferences or language suggestions).  Other cookies are non-functional and allow the website and third parties to tailor messages and advertising relevant to a user’s interests.   We use cookies to keep track of how you use our website and services so we may provide a personalized service.

There are a few different categories of cookies, including:

Session and Persistent Cookies
• Session Cookies - these are cookies which expire once you close your web browser,
• Persistent Cookies - these are cookies which stay on your device for a set period of time or until you delete
them.
First and Third Party Cookies
• First-party cookies - these are cookies set by the website that you are visiting at that time, either by us, or by a third party at our request;
• Third-party cookies - these are cookies that are set by a party other than that of the website you are visiting. If you visit the Bandsintown website or use the Bandsintown Service and another party sets a cookie through that website this would be a third-party cookie.

Browser Cookies

On your mobile device, you may use the “Limit Ad Tracking” setting (on iOS devices) or a setting to “Opt out of Interest-Based Ads” (on Android) which allows you to limit the use of information about your use of apps for purposes of serving ads targeted to your interests.

Limit Ad Tracking” setting (on iOS devices)

Every iOS device comes with an identifier that allows developers and marketers to track activity for advertising purposes. It may be used by advertisers to run remarketing campaigns and record purchasing or downloading conversions.

With the release of iOS6, the Unique Device Identifier (UDID) is replaced by the Identifier for Advertising (IDFA).

The IDFA has two key features:

  • It can be reset by the user at any time.

  • Users can opt out of all remarketing by enabling a device setting called "Limit Ad Tracking" (LAT), which restricts advertisers from using the IDFA for behavioral advertising.

Limit ad tracking (LAT) is a feature allowing users to opt-out of having an ID for Advertisers (IDFA). With this setting enabled, the user’s IDFA appears blank when tracked. This means they won’t see specific ads targeted at them because, as far as networks see, the device has no identity.

Attribution and conversion events (among other features) are switched off when LAT is switched on (though not quite with Adjust, as you can find out below).

If you want to opt out of interest-based ads, you can choose to turn on the Limit Ad Tracking setting on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Internet Advertising

Certain targeted advertisements that we (or a service provider acting on our behalf) display to you based on information about your online activities across websites and other interactive properties operated by third parties may include the “Ad Choices” icon or another mechanism to opt out of receiving interest-based advertisements.

• Click on the AdChoices icon or visit AboutAds.info to receive more information about the collection and use of information about your online activities for interest based advertising or to learn how to opt out of having your data used for interest based advertising by Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) participating companies.
• Visit NAI Consumer Opt Out to learn how to opt out from the use of information about your online activities for interest based advertising by NAI member companies.
• Visit The Canadian AdChoices Program if you live in Canada

We may collect data through sites to show you interest-based advertising, which enables advertisers to reach users based on their interests and demographics (e.g., "concert goers"). We believe interest-based ads are more relevant to users and therefore provide a better experience. However, you can express a preference not to receive interest-based ads by clicking on the opt-out button below. Once opted out, we will no longer be able to serve interest-based advertising to your browser.
