Bandsintown Brings No. 1 Free Concert Tracking App to Android Devices
New York, NY, April 24, 2012 – Bandsintown, the No. 1 free concert tracking application on Facebook and the iPhone, is expanding its reach to Android devices. The app, available now as a free download in the Android Marketplace, lets users track their favorite artists, discover concerts from new artists that match their tastes, and RSVP to shows, all from their mobile device.
“We’ve been very happy with Bandsintown’s performance on Facebook and the iPhone and are excited to bring it to Android devices,” said Julien Mitelberg, CEO of Bandsintown. “Android growth has been rapid, with over 300 million devices in the market worldwide, and we’re thrilled that this audience can now tap into our service. The goal is to make sure that no one ever misses a concert from their favorite band, and this expansion is a big step toward achieving that.”
Upon installation, Bandsintown scans a user’s music library and Facebook Likes to automatically populate their Tracked Artists page. (The app can also pull data from Last.fm and Pandora for more accurate results). Users can then see when their favorite bands are coming to town in a variety of ways, including the Concert Cloud, which graphically emphasizes shows they might be more interested in, and the Tonight tab, which lets users browse recommended shows by date. Once users find a concert to attend, they can RSVP directly from the app, purchase tickets, and share the event with their friends.
Bandsintown is the leading Facebook application for live music fans and artists. For fans, Bandsintown provides a personalized way for music fans to track their favorite artists so they never miss a live concert and to discover new touring artists, based on their musical preferences and location. For artists, Bandsintown provides a best-in-class platform that allows artists to promote their live concerts and to sell tickets, leveraging Facebook, Twitter and more. Acquired by Cellfish in September 2011, Bandsintown is based in San Diego.
