Bandsintown Featured Among First Android Wear Smartwatch Apps
Implementation Delivers Time-Sensitive Concert Alerts At A Glance, Without Pulling Out A Phone
NEW YORK, NY—July 7, 2014 — Bandsintown, the No. 1 concert discovery app with over 11 million registered users, is featured on Google Play this week, where developers are noted for their work in writing apps that run on Android Wear, its smart wearable platform designed specifically for the smartwatch market. Bandsintown is among the first to have implemented the Android Wear SDK, which allows developers to build “glanceable” notifications with a fully customizable user interface. When users install Bandsintown on their smartphone, Android Wear will automatically push concert notifications to their always-on smartwatch, where they can swipe to view more information like show dates and venue location. From there, users can indicate if they’re “Going” or “Interested,” to easily share with friends.
“Bandsintown is proud to be a featured Android Wear developer and we’re excited to build upon the latest technologies that help fans discover more concerts,” said Julien Mitelberg, Bandsintown CEO. “By giving our users easier access to tour dates and live events through a simple glance at their watch, we’re helping to ensure fans never miss another live show.”
Several companies are already offering devices based on Android Wear including LG, Motorola, and Samsung, with more coming out this summer. The LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live are now available for purchase.
