Bandsintown Now Powers Over 50,000 Artists with a Fanbase of 3 Million Monthly Unique Visitors
February 6, 2012 – Bandsintown, the top live concert tracking and discovery application, now has over 50,000 artists using the Artist Platform to manage and promote their tour dates online, including top acts across many genres such as Coldplay, Shakira, Tiesto, Kenny Chesney and Skrillex. Bandsintown’s API also powers tour information on partner applications such as BandPage, BandRx, eMusic, Fanbridge OneSheet, ReverbNation, Shazam, Soundhound, and Tracks.by. The concert app reaches over three million monthly unique visitors who track their favorite artists, receive recommendations based on their listening preferences, send RSVP’s and purchase tickets, online, on Facebook and on mobile.
Bandsintown’s Artist Platform has become the clear choice for artists, labels, and management companies because it provides a suite of free, easy to use tools that not only save time but increase fan engagement and turnout to events. The most recent addition to the toolkit is Auto Promote. By choosing this feature, Bandsintown will automatically send geo-targeted announcements at prescheduled intervals before a band’s shows, increasing fan interaction in the gap between the on-sale date and the show itself. Since Bandsintown creates real Facebook events on the band’s page, instead of linking fans off to another website, all of this additional traffic takes place through that band’s page, with full Facebook functionality including commenting and sharing.
Jeremy Rosen, Director Digital Platforms & Emerging, Roadrunner Records, commented “What interested Roadrunner Records in Bandsintown is their fantastic user interface and how they give fans real, continually-updated show information. Our artist sites, such as YoungTheGiant.com, have seen a functional benefit in powering tour dates but more importantly an increased ability to get more interactions and reactions in the social sphere. At the end of the day that means more butts in seats since people know a show is coming to their town. This worked out so well that we are adding Bandsintown to our Roadrunner Records website.”
Jennifer Bird, Head of New Media, Red Light Management, added, “Many of our bands use the Bandsintown app because it takes the pain and hassle out of listing tour dates. But even more important, we’re seeing our bands’ fans using Bandsintown’s social media features to promote shows to their friends, and that’s turning more people out to the shows.”
Julien Mitelberg, CEO of Bandsintown, is excited to see the artist install base grow, “We are a very artist-centric company. Our tools today enable artists to promote their tour dates and increase ticket sales using all of the benefits of social and mobile. Soon we will integrate more options that will enable our artists to create new revenues before, during and after their live events.”
